snow days and my kitchen

Everyone around here is plastering facebook with pictures of the snow, and one of my friends' cry was 'Please no more pictures of backyards in the snow!'.
So here is our backyard in the snow...

I think she might have a point, but there are some places in this country that didn't get much snow, and there has been A LOT of snow here. Even more came after I took the pictures.
So much snow that Little Boy has been reluctant to go out in it, for fear of disappearing into a snow drift I shouldn't wonder (now, there'a a phrase... I'll go with it as I'm just writing whatever comes out tonight, editing - pah!) I have photographic evidence that he did get togged up and go outside, but he only made it about two feet further down the path before the words 'Stow [snow] - don' like it' were spoken over and over and over again. What a poppet.

Smallest Boy on the other hand, at 8 months old, was clawing at the window excitedly and would probably have crawled out of the door by himself given half a chance (there's another one!) more difficult to get photographic evidence of him, he moves quickly nowadays, but I'm sure he's here somewhere doing something... [eating his first sandwich last week before the snow came]

Oh and just to throw a curve ball in, nothing to do with 'stow'.
This is me. In my mini-kitchen. Some have questioned how small is a small kitchen, and some have questioned whether I really need a new one? Well -
This Is A Small Kitchen. When I was heavily pregnant I had to back out between the units the way I went in. I have grown to love it over the nearly-five years we've been here, in a love/hate way you understand. It's more of a kitchen than you'd find in most of the developing world though and I will stop moaning and be grateful ;) and try to make it prettier somehow. Any thoughts?

I think that's all for now. Just like the old days, I do go on ...
love x

Love this!!!!!! Can't believe you had that much snow - we had a cuople of cm and Mikey was totally freaked out! Bless little sweeeeet boy. LOVE "don't like it!".

Gosh littlest one is soooo grown up! Jemima is weaning and hates food of all kinds, getting a bit stressful. So impressed.

Your kitchen is amazing - you're pretty resourceful! Love the image of you backing out!!! Our best solution is doubling up uses for as many things as possible and using open shelving and hanging things. But our kitchen is a palace in comparison! Xxxxx

oh noooo poor Jemima, and poor you! We are very lucky, Smallest Boy is an eating machine, the only thing he didn't seem keen on was avocado, but he still ate it!

I love the idea of open shelving, but in a space this small I would be forever wiping surfaces and bottles as I think everything would get scuzzy as it's all so near the hob! The cupboard doors are pretty rank anyways as I'm a bit hit and miss on the cleaning front... ;)

Hope your roads are safe, we are still cooped up, this time due to ice everywhere :(

thanks for commenting, you are lovely xxxx
